New Music We Crush #4: Nice Biscuit – Fairfield of Dreams

Damn. Fucking Damn. Nice Biscuit are great. Think hypnotic vocals lashing at whirls of psych rock guitars. For comparisons sake – Melody’s Echo Chamber with more grunt.  Hailing from Brisbane, Nice Biscuit have the psych pop daze vibes on lock. Fairfield of Dreams has a is dripping in 80’s nostaglia, but its never excessive or exaggerated. It never feels faked or forced, just a papable throwback to a music that inspired them. Think Brian Eno, and The B-52’s (side note can we take a second to appreciate how great and sonically significant The B-52’s are. I mean Roam, Planet Claire, Give Me Back My Man.) The breathy double harmonies on Fairfield of Dreams provided by the bands dual front women Billie and Grace, soar and circle, tangling into rolling guitars, eerie distortion and whip percussion.

Right now you can catch them casually supporting Brian Jonestown Massacre (no biggy), and they have previously supported the likes of Cloud Control, Allah Las, Jen Cloher, The Growlers, and The Murlocs to name a few.

Fairfield of Dreams is out on Break Even Recordings, an Inertia imprint, and is available both digitally and on vinyl.
